Heritage Weekly News - September 29, 2019

Dear Aviator Families,

At Heritage we believe strongly in honoring our students for their unique contributions and personal successes and doing so in a timely and inclusive manner. In our first few years we used a monthly award assembly option to honor children. Last year we shifted to an in-class award program which we call the “Aviator Awards”. This year, we are continuing this method of celebrating the successes for our students for each of their unique contributions. This method aligns with our school mission statement and goals as it relates to celebrating perseverance, individual growth, and providing an environment where all children feel accepted.

Teachers submit awards throughout the year to me and then I deliver the awards directly to the classroom, where we celebrate as a class community. This is a special opportunity to tailor each award to the child’s individual achievement. Pictured below are our first group of students honored this year, all from Mrs. Melcer’s class.

Heritage Elementary Back Gate Procedures

We are thankful for the increased volume of families using the back gate to access campus. With an increased volume, we are noticing a number of areas we need to address to ensure student safety, particularly after school. We will be observing the following procedures for Back Gate Dismissal. These procedures are in place for the safety and security of your student.

  • Each Adult must be identified as the appropriate Pick-Up Person for each Student.

  • Students in Grades 4 and 5 ONLY may walk/ride/scooter home without an Adult if pre-arrangements have been made with the school.

  • Younger siblings may walk home with 4th and 5th grade siblings if pre-arrangements have been made with the school.

Thank you for observing these guidelines.

See you tomorrow,
Mrs. RB
